Is self care a priority in your life?
Whether you are a coach to others or an entrepreneur running any type of business, self care should be at the top of your goal list. If you don’t take your own self care seriously, how are you going to show up for others? To succeed as an entrepreneur your self care should be a top priority. The way you take care of yourself or not, is going to have a true impact on your business.
The fact that your self care rituals or lack there of, are going to reflect in most all aspects of your work – let’s make it a positive reflection! Agreed? This can be accomplished by putting your best self forward whether it be with your clients, work colleagues, or all business dealings!
Start by asking yourself a few questions:
What does self care mean to me?
What actions have I taken when I feel my best?
What’s one step I can take today that I know will ensure I’ll be more vital in my business?
Here are some examples that indicate your self care department needs a major re-boot; feeling sluggish, un-focused, tired, low energy, moody, lack of motivation, always in a rush, impatient, and generally stressed out. Whoa – that’s a pretty depressing list.
On the other hand if you are kicking butt in the area of self care you may find yourself; skipping into the office in the morning, feeling inspired, excited, sharp, clear, joyful, full of energy and ready to roll!
Does the latter sound good?
If the answer is a 100% “H— YE-AH!”…
Apply more of the following self care tips to your life!
Rest – We must get our rest before we can take charge in the workplace! We are all unique in how much sleep we require for optimum functioning. Figure out your amount and get it!
Nourish – Nourish from the inside out. Eat clean and healthy whole foods that bring you energy throughout the day – not a yawning marathon. You may want to experiment too with cutting down on or out caffeine.
Exercise – Exercise regularly and get your cardio on people! The more you move your body the more energy you will have when it’s time to settle in, concentrate and produce. And you will sleep like a baby at night!
Hush – Find quiet time to meditate, reflect, and rejuvenate. We all need this more than ever in our busy, amped up world of constant “connection”.
Listen – Incorporate routine gut checks. All change and shifts in habits start with awareness. Learn to pay close attention to how you are feeling and why – both physically and mentally.
Organize – Effective time management is key for self care and stress management. You don’t want to be rushing around throughout your day like a scattered mess. Fail to plan, plan to fail – indeed.
Celebrate – Have some FUN! Happiness and joy feed us on a whole different level and are expansive. Spend time nurturing activities that you love and incorporate them heavily into your life!
Love – Give love, and be wide open to receiving it. Surround yourself with people you positively respond to and weed out the bad vibe ones. The more you invest in your own self care the more healthy, happier people you will attract into your inner life and work circles.
Many of these self care tips may seem like nothing new but if there is one thing I’ve learned as a coach – people tend to need reminders! That’s why support and accountability can be game changers. Go easy on yourself. Self care is an on-going process. Start with one or two changes you would like to make that sound doable at this time and let the transformation begin!
